Associate - Marisa L. Rubitz

Marisa  L. Rubitz (mrubitz@smymlaw.com) graduated from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of law in May 2004 with Dean’s Honors. While Ms. Rubitz was attending McGeorge she was active in several on campus organizations, including the Student Bar Association and the McGeorge Woman’s Caucus. Ms. Rubitz was also a recipient of the Gary V. Schaber Memorial scholarship and awarded honors in McGeorge’s Trial Advocacy program. Ms. Rubitz received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies at California State University, where she graduated cum laude.

Ms. Rubitz gained practical experience at McGeorge’s Community Legal Services where she served as a Governing Board member during the 2003-2004 academic year. While working at Community Legal Services, Ms. Rubitz gained valuable experience in family law disputes. Ms. Rubitz served as a certified law student while at the clinic and handled her own caseload in family law, performing all functions of an attorney, ranging from client interviews and discovery to court room appearances.

As an associate with Timothy M. Cary & Associates, Ms. Rubitz has gained experience in school district and public entity representation. Ms. Rubitz’s prior experience exposed her to school district related issues regarding labor and employment law, individualized student disability plans, and construction law litigation. Ms. Rubitz has also engaged in extensive settlement negotiations for personal injury cases.
